Politis PR Tip #47: Think Before You Upload that Video
I spoke last week at Utah Valley University as a guest lecturer for a introductory Mass Communications class.
One of my recommendations before I left was this:
Go check out your MySpace, Facebook and YouTube accounts and delete any video that you might be embarrassed to have your grandmother see.
Unfortunately, the advances in technology have made it extremely easy to shoot video almost anywhere and then upload them to the Web for all to see — including
- Employers,
- Headhunters,
- Prospective employers,
- College admissions officers,
- Friends,
- Family members,
- Spouses (and prospective spouses),
- And more.
The Cautionary Tale: Be careful what videos you upload onto the Web.
In other words, think before you upload that video.
